Made between 1603 to 1625 but my coin was made between 1603 to 1604 based on the Thistle Mintmark shown. This is an Incredible piece of history! So far the oldest silver coin I have dug on American soil. The coin was cut into pieces to make change during colonial times, and more than likely lost in the 1600s and not later on. This was on epic metal detecting hunt! I discovered a colonial homestead that had been long forgotten. My metal detector was able to find a few treasures from the 1700s and 1600s. Huge Flood exposes treasure on the river bottom for me to find! It was an epic day of scuba diving underwater in the river . We found hundreds of sharks teeth, fossils and even mastodon teeth.
